An Evening of Insight into the work of an Adjudicator

Brass Bands Wales (BBW) and the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators (AoBBA) are delighted to announce, ‘An evening of insight into the work of an adjudicator’.

BBW are hosting an evening with AoBBA secretary, Nicholas Garman and Head of AoBBA’s Trainee Adjudicator Programme, Martin Heartfield who between them will look at all aspects of adjudication including the opportunity to take part in a ‘blind’ adjudication finding out what it’s like inside ‘the box’, a chance to ask questions about adjudication and the processes adjudicators go through and to discover more about the trainee scheme.

Nicholas said, ‘AoBBA were extremely pleased to be invited by BBW to take part in their excellent series of webinars and are looking forward to be able to provide further understanding and awareness of the role of an adjudicator. As an association, we are looking to be more proactive in sharing of ideas to help the movement flourish’.

The timetable for the evening is:

7.30pm – ‘The Path to becoming an Adjudicator’ – Nicholas Garman, AoBBA Secretary

7.45pm – ‘The Performance Assessment Criteria (PAC)’ – Nicholas Garman

8pm – ‘The Trainee Adjudicator Programme’ – Martin Heartfield, AoBBA Trainee Mentor

8.15pm – ‘Comment Writing and a Summing up Paragraph’ – Martin Heartfield

8.30pm – ‘Assessing a Live Performance’ (with opportunity to write your own adjudication) – Nicholas Garman.

9pm – ‘Question Time’ – Martin Heartfield and Nicholas Garman
