AoBBA Celebrates Further Recognition Of Its Members

2025 has already seen a number of our members receiving further professional recognition, with Anne Crookston’s SBBA Life Member, Andrea Price being appointed to Kapitol’s Music Panel, and countless individual performance and conducting successes for our members.
We also congratulate Nicholas Garman (Secretary) on his appointment to the Adjudicator’s Panel for the British International Federation of Festivals (BiFF). For over 100 years, BiFF have organised music, dance, speech and drama festivals all over the UK and around the world.
Following an intense four-stage interview and assessment process, Nicholas was the only newly accepted adjudicator of 2024 and has already undertaken a number of adjudications across the country.
Nicholas commented: “Being part of another adjudication system has broadened my horizons still further from the work I already undertake as an examiner with the London College of Music and of course as an AoBBA adjudicator. Giving immediate, verbal feedback to participants, in front of their fellow competitors and public audience is a new skill I have had to develop. It has already been highly rewarding to hear so many brass (and other instrumentalists) individuals and ensembles, all who gain performing experience, professional feedback and in the case of the winners of each category, medals, trophies and occasional monetary prizes too. My work as a BiFF adjudicator will compliment that of my AoBBA work and will help me contribute to future discussions on delivering professional and experienced adjudication for the modern brass band contest.”
AoBBA Chair, Brett Baker, said; “Our membership is comprised of highly skilled individuals and we are committed to ensuring the highest levels of adjudication through continuing CPD and recognising all our members’ professional achievements”.
