AoBBA Welcome New Trainee Members
The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators (AoBBA) are pleased to announce Danny Brooks, Chris Shanks & Tommy Tynan have joined its ranks as they embark on the successful training programme.
Danny Brooks has established a first-class reputation as a conductor of brass bands with his appointment as Musical Director of Leyland Band earlier this year. Previous to this, Danny gained great acclaim with Elland Silver Band in Yorkshire whom he led from the Second Section into the Championship Section, performing against the titans of Yorkshire banding for seven years. In education, Danny founded the Red Admiral Music Academy in 2014 with hundreds of young players benefiting from its tuition.
Chris Shanks studied euphonium at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under Dr. David Thornton & Anthony Swainson with conducting tuition with Nigel Boddice MBE. An active member of the Salvation Army, he has featured as a guest soloist in the UK and Ireland as well as having toured Europe and the USA with SA groups. Chris is Principal Euphonium with Whitburn Band with whom he won the Best Euphonium prize at the Scottish Championships in 2022 & 2023. Additionally, Chris is Resident Musical Director of the EverReady Band in the North of England and a Besson Euphonium Artist.
Since moving to Wales to join Cory Band on Principal Tuba in 2022, Tommy Tynan has been on tour to South Korea with the band as well as further concerts in the UK, France, Switzerland, Austria, Lithuania & Sweden. Earlier this year, Tommy travelled to Australia where he performed and taught. A graduate of the University of Huddersfield, Tommy was previously a member of Oldham (Lees) Band and enjoys a career in catering alongside his musical endeavours.
