AoBBA Welcome Roger Argente

The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators (AoBBA) are delighted to welcome Roger Argente as a full member.

One of the most prolific bass trombone players of the last forty years, Roger played with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for twenty-seven years from 1992 to 2018. As a session musician, Roger has recorded film scores for John Williams, James Horner, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, and Michael Giaccino, recording the sountracks for over 100 iconic films including: four Harry Potter films, three Lord of the Rings films, six James Bond movies, two Guardians of the Galaxy films, The Hunger Games, Gladiator, Man Of Steel, Avengers Infinity War, Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, and The Incredibles 2.

In addition to his experience as a player, Roger is Head of Brass at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama – a post he’s held since 2018 – is the founder of brass phenomenon ‘Superbrass’, as well as being an Ambassador for Youth Music and former President of the British Trombone Society,

Speaking of his new affiliation, Roger commented: “I am delighted to join the excellent Association of Brass Band Adjudicators. Since moving back to my musical roots in 2018, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed meeting old friends ad making new ones from the brass band world and though my work at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. I can’t wait to get further involved in the fabulous and important work that AoBBA undertakes.

Speaking on behalf of the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators, PRO Officer Christopher Bond added: “Roger’s vast experience as both a player and educator over many decades and across many genres speaks for itself and we are delighted to welcome him to the Association as we continually strive to deliver both professional and experienced adjudication for the modern brass band contest”.
