The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators (AoBBA) has announced Melissa Brown as joining its successful Development Programme.

Melissa is a graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire with a degree in performance and an LTCL in instrumental teaching. Active as a performer and educator across the UK, Melissa performs regularly with Enderby Band and and the all-female International Athena Brass Band. Additionally, Melissa has also been a professional mentor for the International Women’s Brass Conference (IWBC) mentoring scheme since its founding. Through the scheme, Melissa has shared presentations on musicians’ mental health, and building an interesting and sustainable career with the IWBC community.

Melissa commented: “Having spent several years considering applying to train as an adjudicator, I’m thrilled to be accepted onto the Development Programme to officially start this journey. I’m especially excited to be working with this esteemed organisation of adjudicators and to contribute to the continuing growth of representation within the brass band movement.”

Public Relations Officer Officer, Christopher Bond, added: “Melissa has already demonstrated masterful skill alongside a professional attitude, attending our Adjudicators’ Experience Day last year with Martin Heartfield, the Head of our Development Programme. We look forward to giving her the platform on which to develop her adjudication skills and experience as part of the programme and working with her across the coming months to do so.”
