Chris has judged at multiple Norwegian Nationals, the Swiss, Danish and North American Nationals, multiple Elite sections at SIDDIS, Brass in Concert and numerous UK regionals and other contests in the UK.
He recently retired as the Chair of the Music Commission of the European Brass Band Association and acts as the Treasurer of the Association of Brass Band Adjudicators. Chris is the MD of the Wantage Band, one of the largest band organisations in the UK, and had conducted the Friary Brass Band for 18 years, taking them into the 20.
During Chris’ first career as a British Army Bandmaster, he conducted the Band of the Grenadier Guards, and helped form the original British Army Brass Band, which became the template for other Army brass bands, giving career opportunities for saxhorn players in the UK. He now works as a school leader in South London.
Chris has already had contest success with the Wantage Band, and he regularly guest conducts other bands, such as the Grimethorpe and Desford Colliery Bands, and loves nothing more than helping lower section bands to develop through workshops.
