Young Adjudicators Panel is GO!

The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators (AoBBA) are pleased to announce details of its Young Adjudicators Panel; an initiative run jointly with the Yorkshire Regional Brass Band Committee (YRBBC) at the Yorkshire Regional Championships at Huddersfield Town Hall on Saturday 5th March (3rd Section).

The four participants making up the panel will be: Aidan Grant (aged 15) of Tyldesley Band, Archie Hall (aged 15) of Tewit Silver Band, Rhys Stokes (aged 13) of Strata Brass, and Jacob Waller (aged 17).

The quartet of young adjudicators will be joined by mentor, Brett Baker, for the day, as they delve into Gordon Langford’s Facets of Glass, as well as meeting with official adjudicators Martin Heartfield and Alan Morrison to discuss their approaches to adjudication.

The young adjudicators will also be provided with seating near the official adjudicators’ box, a copy of the score, adjudicators’ remarks sheets, adjudicators’ results form, and band member tickets for the young people and their parents/guardians.

Head of Trainee Adjudicator Programme, Martin Heartfield commented: “We are delighted as an association to one again run our Young Adjudicators Scheme in partnership with Yorkshire Regional Brass Band Championships Ltd, at this year’s area contest in March. This is a great opportunity to give the next generation of young musicians experience and insight into the role of an adjudicator.”

Alongside its young adjudicators panel, AoBBA’s adjudicator training scheme is also thriving, with six trainee adjudicators successfully completing the programme over the last two years, and nine trainee adjudicators currently on the programme. For more information, visit www.aobba.com
