I am a Music Director, Conductor, Adjudicator, Arranger and Instrumental Music Tutor of considerable experience. My main instrument is the Trombone and I have many former pupils who have gone on to make their living in the music profession. Most of my first class playing experience was as a Trombonist in Military Bands, Big Bands, Symphony Orchestras and Theater Orchestras. Having been a member of the Regimental Band of the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards, I toured extensively through mainland Europe, Canada and the USA. Over the years I have recorded extensively and appeared on Radio and Television from on quite a few occasions. In my formative years I was also a member of both the National Youth Orchestra and the European Youth Orchestras in my early years. I have also been lucky enough to have played for some of the country’s top brass bands including the likes of the Leyland Daf and Brighouse & Rastrick bands, as well as many others. I began my conducting career with the Freckleton Band while still playing at Leyland working with the late John Golland. However, my last “proper playing job” was helping the world famous Brighouse & Rastrick Band in the Royal Albert Hall with a 1,000 strong Yorkshire male voice choir. I am well known in Northern England as a successful conductor of contest bands and I was formally the Music Director of the a couple of the countries most famous bands, the Every Ready Band, (Now Reg Vardy), and the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band. I have conducted many other famous bands over the years as a guest conductor and adjudicated and appeared at most of the major contests including the Areas, the National Finals, the Mineworkers Final and the All England Masters Championships.
